Herkenrode Vesper
Herkenrode Vesper is a triple abbey beer that ferments a second time in the bottle. It distinguishes itself by its full taste and deep golden color. English hops add to the unique and unmistakable aroma of this robust abbey beer.
Way back to 1182
The history of the Herkenrode Abbey goes all the way back to 1182. Centuries of religion and mysticism, with a unicorn as the symbol of the nuns who lived there.
Refermented in the bottle
The Vesper is a unique tripel brewed according to traditional, abbey beer methods. The characteristic full-bodied flavour, the deep colour and the unmistakable aroma are all a result of the refermentation in the bottle.
Hidden in the gateway
In the coat of arms that adorns the Herkenrode Abbey beers, you see several symbols: the crown with the cross, the ornaments and the characteristic silhouette of the Abbey’s roof. And if you look very closely, you will see hands folded in prayer in the Abbey’s gateway…
The evening prayer
The Cistercian sisters had set times for their daily prayers. The evening prayer, or the ‘vespers’, was one of those moments. And that is why our Vesper Tripel is most delicious in the evening.
