Herkenrode Noctis is a brown abbey beer brewed with Munich malt from spring barley and English aroma hops. It’s a hearty Belgian craft beer that re-ferments in the bottle.
Way back to 1182
The history of the Herkenrode Abbey goes all the way back to 1182. Centuries of religion and mysticism, with a unicorn as the symbol of the nuns who lived there.

The Noctis is a traditional, brown abbey beer brewed according to the rules of the craft. After bottling, the beer becomes even better as a result of the refermentation in the bottle.
Hidden in the gateway
In the coat of arms that adorns the Herkenrode Abbey beers, you see several symbols: the crown with the cross, the ornaments and the characteristic silhouette of the Abbey’s roof. And if you look very closely, you will see hands folded in prayer in the Abbey’s gateway…
Brown and gold
At the World Beer Awards in both 2016 and in 2018, our Herkenrode Noctis was able to convince two juries to award it the Gold medal.
